Track cash, Venmo, and market-table sales alongside your online orders
One ledger for the jam you sold for cash on Saturday and the sourdough someone Venmo'd for on Tuesday — no platform fee, same P&L as your SellFood orders. Part of Artisan Pro.
The problem
Half of what you sell never touches a card reader
If you need to track cash sales at farmers market tables, you know the drill. A twenty for two loaves. A Venmo that lands while you're bagging cookies. By Sunday night the money is real but the record isn't, and Venmo sales bookkeeping for a cottage food business becomes a January guessing game.
The cash box tells you a total, not a story
You cleared $340 at the market. You don't know how many jars of jam versus loaves of sourdough, so you don't know what that $340 cost you to make.
Venmo isn't a ledger
Payment apps show a feed of names and emoji. They can't tell a sale from a friend paying you back for lunch, and they don't sit next to your online orders.
Two sets of books
Online orders in one place, a notebook for market days, a spreadsheet nobody updates. When your preparer asks for total sales, you're adding three things and hoping.

Market day ledger
Log a few sales the way you would at your table and watch sales, cost of goods, and margin update as you go.

Gross margin is sales minus cost of goods; booth fees and mileage are logged separately. Line mapping is a bookkeeping convenience, not tax advice — confirm with your preparer. This shows records, not tax owed; SellFood does not calculate tax.
In the real tool, you pick the product from your own listings. The variant's cost is already there, and the sale lands on your P&L, tax-year summary, CSV, and PDF the moment you save it.

The offline sales log, feature by feature
It lives on your Accounting page under the expenses card. Everything below is live today for Artisan Pro and Founding members.
Log a sale in a few taps
Date, amount collected, how they paid. Add a product and quantity if you want, a note if you need one. Built for your phone between customers, not a desk after the market.
Seven payment methods
Cash, Venmo, Zelle, PayPal, Cash App, Card reader, or Other. Pick one per sale so you can see how much market income came through each channel.
Optional product link for COGS
Choose a product and variant from your own listings and SellFood uses the variant's cost times quantity as cost of goods sold. Skip it and the sale is still recorded, without COGS.
No platform fee
SellFood's platform fee applies to orders placed through SellFood. A cash sale at your table is your sale. Log it, keep all of it.
Its own ledger, not mixed into orders
Offline sales sit in their own table and appear as their own "Offline Sales" line on the P&L. Your online order history stays clean.
Flows into P&L, tax year, CSV, PDF
Every entry counts toward net profit, shows in the tax-year summary on the Taxes page, exports to CSV, and is listed in the sales PDF in your preparer package.
Questions sellers ask
Do I owe SellFood a fee on cash or Venmo sales?
No. The SellFood platform fee applies only to orders placed and paid through SellFood. A sale you log as offline — cash at your table, Venmo, Zelle, PayPal, Cash App, your own card reader, or other — carries no platform fee. It goes into your books as income, and that is all.
Do offline sales show up on my 1099-K?
No. Card payments on SellFood run through your own Stripe account, and Stripe issues any Form 1099-K, not SellFood. Cash and Venmo sales you log here are not part of that form. They are still business income you report, which is why keeping them in the same ledger as your online orders matters.
Can I log a sale without picking a product?
Yes. Product and variant are optional. Enter the date, amount collected, and payment method and you are done. If you pick a variant from your listings, SellFood pulls its cost times quantity into cost of goods sold. Skip the product and the sale is recorded with no COGS attached.
What if I refund a cash sale?
Offline sale entries can be edited or deleted. If a customer brings back a jar and you hand back their cash, open the entry and correct the quantity and amount, or remove it. Add a note so you remember why. The P&L, tax-year summary, and exports update from the corrected entry.
Does this replace counting my cash box?
No. The offline sales log is a ledger of what you sold and how you were paid. Still count your drawer at the end of the day. If the drawer and the log disagree, you forgot a sale or gave wrong change, and now you know to look. The two together are how you catch mistakes.
